With 22 miles run from Greenwich to Soho, the taper has begun…
It is crazy for me to think that when I first started this hobby in lockdown 1 I couldn’t run for longer than 30 seconds without wheezing and needing an inhaler while I’m now running for an enjoyable 3.5 hours!
We had an early start on Sunday morning, catching the coach from Marylebone at 8:30 to start our run in Greenwich at 9:30. We began from one of the London Marathon start points and followed the real route all the way until Tower Bridge. Going past the Cutty Sark was a real highlight but definitely a lot less crowded than it will be on the day.
From Tower Bridge we ran along Southbank until we reached Vauxhall bridge whilst watching the London Landmarks Half Marathon get under way on the other side of the river. Hearing the crowds made everyone even more excited for the big day.
We carried on tracing the Thames path until Battersea bridge where we crossed back in towards Mayfair and Soho, greeted by pastries and coffee at Rapha, courtesy of Tracksmith.
Completing this run felt like such an achievement and running alongside Izzy made it actually seem fun. Also, massive shout out to my mum who was able to run 20.5 miles this week which has given her the boost she needed to know she is well and truly ready for the 23rd April.
Thanks everyone for all your donations so far. We are so grateful for all your support.
Lola x
